I was finally able to get this page scrapped. I’ve been trying to work on the cruise scrapbook in a generally chronological order except when a picture is perfect for a challenge or something. But this one had me stumped. Just couldn’t figure out how to get it on the page. Finally I did. Still not sure I’m thrilled with it but here it is, for what it’s worth.

I was looking through some old pictures and found one of DS(now 14) and his dad getting dressed for his First Communion. Then I remembered that I had something similar from our recent cruise. So I just had to scrap this up and then I just had to come over here and share it. Now I’m going to stare at it for a while and cry because my baby’s gone.

Hi everyone,

I finally got some time to get some more creative team layouts done.  Melanie has a couple of be-you-tiful kits available.  The first one is her BB Color Challenge kit.  I loved playing with this one to make my Practically Perfect layout.  Mary Poppins has always been one of my favorite characters and seeing her in this parade at Walt Disney World was wonderful. 

But my favorite layout is this one.  My mom is truly my hero.  She’s been so wonderful.  Since my Dad died when I was 15 she’s had to be mom and dad to us.  She takes such good care of everyone around here — probably too much so.  She really is incredible!

But apparently the muses weren’t finished with me.  I’ve been so busy getting the father’s day kit finished that I never did get a card for King Charming.  But then this idea came to mind.  When the kids wake up I’ll get them each to write something about why their dad is the greatest.  Then King Charming will have a Father’s Day card that I could never have bought at the store. 

And while I was making this up I figured maybe I wasn’t the only one that hasn’t gotten around to getting a Father’s Day card.  So I’m offering it as a freebie quick page.

Hey all,

Don’t have but a minute but I just had to share a LO I did this morning.  On June 8 my eldest graduated "boot camp" in the Young Marines.  This was a great accomplishment for him since he’d only been in since about the beginning of May or end of April.  The other recruits in the class had been in since January, so he had some catching up to do… which he did admirably.  I’m so proud of him!

Yes, I have another freebie quick page for you.  But before I get to that, I just have to share a LO I did last night.  Had a couple of pictures from Grand Cayman to scrap for the cruise book I’m working on and I started just placing stuff on a page without a real plan.  Despite that, I’m happy with how it turned out. 

And now, on to what you’re really here for… the freebie quick page.  First, let me tell you a bit about a new store that’s coming called Benevolent Boutique (BB).  This will be a different kind of scrap store because the kits sold in this store are created specifically to raise money for charity.  So when you shop there, you’re not only getting great stuff, you’re helping other folks out.  The store isn’t open yet, but you can download this wonderful “Jack” kit for only $5.99 and the proceeds to the Make a Wish Foundation.

Well this has been something of a busy day.  Actually, it started last night.  I was working on a new LO for a Digi Scrap Station challenge that ended yesterday.  About 2 hours into the layout (and, of course, just as i was about to hit save) I lost it.  Argggghhhhh!!!!  Serves me right for not saving though. 

This morning I woke up around 6:30 and decided to get on up even though I was still sleepy.  Hey, it’s the only time the house is quiet so I’ll get up early for that.    I got my coffee, started reading my email and checking website.  Then I remembered that I’d promised King Charming that I’d get my stuff entered in the checkbook.  He’s been teasing me about not having spent money in the last 2 weeks because there was no evidence of it in the checkbook.  Well, needless to say, I had been.

But I got that one done and went back to scrapping.  ScrapMatters had a pretty interesting challenge for Saturday.  They wanted us to scrap one picture that was “So Me”.  Well, those of you that know me just KNOW it had to have something to do with computers.  So here it is — I kinda like how it turned out.  It’s got a king of realistic yet impossible feel to it (kind of like me) and is a mix of traditional and out there (like me).  As always, click for credits:

 Then I had to work on registrations for this camp I run for Webelos Scouts.  Got all that done and King Charming decides it’s time to go shopping for mattresses for the boys.  So off we go (I’m not turning down a trip to Costco).  We went back and forth around the store for a while but couldn’t find a lot of other stuff we wanted.  So we got the mattresses and left with that plus just a bit more.  People must have been looking at us becuase we were kidding around and laughing and just generally having a good time.  Yeah, now that we can go out on “dates” like this again I remember why I married this very funny man.

And then when I get home I find that Donna’s made an adorable LO from my Somewhere Beyond the Sea kit.  I just love it, don’t you?

And Kathy… boy, I tell you… this girl is on fire!  I got an email from her saying it was raining where she is so she might as well scrap.  Look at the darling LO she made with the Summer Camp kit.  Y’all make sure you pop by her blog and leave her some love for this one. 

Okay… so now you know more about my day, probably, than you ever wanted to.  But now that I’ve kind of caught up my blog I’m off to do some more scrapping.  Maybe I’ll try to recreate the one I was working on last night.  Remember to save…. remember to save….. remember to save…..

It’s been a good day for me.  The only real chore I had to do today was take DS14 over to the Army Surplus Store for a pair of boots he can wear at his Young Marines functions.  Other than that (becuase the housework is always calling and I’ve gotten pretty good at ignoring it) I’ve been able to sit and scrap and create all day.  And I’m listening to a Disney music station which means that I get to surround myself with magic and happiness.  I’ve got my health, a solid place to live, food, gas to get where I need to go (although at $4 a gallon, going in search of yard sales this morning was not something I was willing to do).  I figure I have it pretty good.

I have these three blessings too.  Although there are times when I wonder if they’re really a “blessing”.  But for the most part, I’m very happy to have the chance to know each of these marvelous men.

The lyrics on this page are from a demo that was done for Aladdin but apparently not included in the movie.  Every time I hear the song I cry.  I’ve got a young man at home that’s 14.  He’s a good boy, but he’s having a hard time turning into a man.  I emphathize — you couldn’t pay me enough to be a teenager again.  And I’ve seen flashes of the wonderful man he’ll become if he just let’s his better side shine through… which I’m sure he will.  Maybe now that I’ve scrapped this up, I can get through the song without crying.  I hope.
